Chicken Fried Steak

By Kim Wells
Tired of the same old thing? Let's try something new!

Prayer Warrior Ministries - My husband and I like to go out to dinner alot, and no matter if we go to a home style cafe, or a dinner theatre, invariably he orders chicken fried steak.
I, on the other hand, like to try different things. When the food is brought to the table, he will look at mine, and say, "Yours looks better than mine", then proceed to taste mine. He will then look at his own plate, and make the remark that I always get the better dinner.
I try to convince him before he orders that he should try something new, but he is afraid to, afraid that he might not like it, and then he would have a full plate of something he doesn't like.

In our walk with Christ, we come across certain people who are strictly "chicken fried steak Christians".
They have accepted Jesus as Lord, and that is as far as they want to go. They know Jesus is good, they know that He fills their bellies, and satisfies their hunger. Yet they look at other Christians, and long for that deeper relationship with Jesus that they see the other person enjoying.

Sometimes the "chicken fried steak Christian" is afraid to try something new, because sister so-and-so has told them that she tried it and did not agree with her, or the escargot does not "look"
appetizing.

We have an entire menu available at our hands in the Bible. We only limit ourselves when we stick to one thing that we have "tasted".
The Word tells us to "taste and see that the Lord is good", we can "order" with full confidence and know that everything in Gods' word is good, and will do more than satisfy the hunger pains we have, it will fill our bellies with life sustaining nourishment, with the added bonus of knowing it will leave a wonderful taste on our palate!

Next time you sit down to the dinner table of the Lord, try something new, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
